MEET DR. BALLARD

BROOKE BALLARD, M.D.

Dr. Ballard is fellowship-trained in orthopedic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and hand. Her scope of care ranges from arthritis treatment of the hand, nerve compression conditions such as carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes, general orthopedic fracture care, arthroscopy, and complex joint replacements throughout the hand and upper extremity.

Dr. Ballard completed her general orthopedic residency at University of California at San Diego, then traveled to University of Florida for a fellowship focused on shoulder to fingertip orthopedic surgery. She received her M.D. from University of Illinois where she had previously graduated Magna Cum Laude with dual degrees in Honors Biology and Chemistry.

No stranger to injuries and rehabilitation herself, Dr. Ballard sustained an ankle fracture as well as tendon lacerations in two separate seasons as a high school varsity athlete and team captain. She still enjoys running, volunteering for the San Diego chapter of Girls on the Run and a national congenital limb differences camp, Hands to Love, and swimming at the La Jolla Cove with her husband and children.

Call and schedule a visit with Dr. Ballard today for patient-centered care and a detailed evaluation of your condition and treatment options.

"I recently had a patient who fell and had a fractured dislocation - I helped him through the healing process from the very beginning until the end. He had an excellent outcome and it was extremely gratifying when he came back to my office and told me he was able to play the violin again. I just knew that he had made a complete recovery.

I really enjoy working with the upper extremity because, as a musician and a surgeon, I rely on my hands every day and understand that my patients do as well. Helping to restore the health of my patients is a fulfilling vocation.

I try to approach patients as if they were family members so that they know I genuinely care about them and will do everything I can to see them through their recovery process.

I love coming to work and making a positive impact on the health and lives of my patients."
